Last night we were hanging out with friends and I had the pleasure to spend some time with Salitza and another friend, Sarah. We got on the topic of being parents and reminisced about when we were kids and the memories we harbored. Oh, sweet nostalgia. The amazing gift that we have is that we can document those memories with imagery. Here, you see Josiah and Salitza’s legacy documented.
You see, when Nick and I moved to North Texas — the Dallas area (the Little Elm and Prosper area, to be exact), it felt like we were starting over. And to be honest, it wasn’t always a comfortable feeling for me. I am a social person and have a need for connection — from other mamas, from friends that share similar interests, and everything in between. When we moved away from our family and friends in Houston, I felt like I lost all of that in almost an instant. I battled with feeling that this was my choice, but that still didn’t make the transition an easy one (for me).
Insert CrossFit Slake here. Nick started going here before I did and wanted me to become part of the community. And while I am sweet, I am also very stubborn. So it took me a minute. When I finally joined, I was met with just the kindest and most loving group of people I think I have ever encountered. Everything I had been longing for when moving here was just handed to me in this perfect package that was residing, all along, at that box (see the pun I just played there, lol?). I think, honestly, they saw how lost I was and how much I needed them and boy, did they ever take me in.
Forgive me as I try and find the words to express how grateful I am for these humans. Halloween parties, girls dinners, river trips, tailgating, CrossFit competitions, meal prepping and planning, 1st Phorm Challenge, endless laughs, random dance parties at the gym, cleaning up the weights in the most seductive ways (haha, IYKYK), ¡Qué perra, and the list could literally go on. All being from different backgrounds and SUPPORTING each other in every way these people are a treasure beyond words. No judgement, just love. When I was lost, these women helped to find me, again. A thank you just doesn’t suffice. Salitza is quite literally one of those women that is always there. Right in the middle of it all.
We can’t forget Josiah. He has a passion for chiropractic services in the Prosper, Tx area and has helped me regain an active lifestyle again — pain free. It’s also very refreshing to see that the way Josiah supports Salitza in every endeavor, how much he loves his boys, and his passion for work are all very contagious and a blessing to be around.
This family is all about togetherness and support. So when I had the opportunity to document their legacy and the most treasured people in their lives, how the heck could I say no? So off we went.
I hope you enjoy <3
